Homestead of any person --- 160 contiguous acres of land and improvements if located outside a municipality or 1/2 acre of contiguous land and improvements if within a municipality. Must be used as a residence by the owner or his family and must be legally "set apart". Exemption available before or after levy.

NOTE: Under Florida law, homestead exemption may not be used to shield property from: (1) payment of taxes and assessments thereon; (2) obligations contracted for the purchase, improvement or repair thereof; or (3) obligations contracted for house, field or other labor performed on realty.

Unlimited or 100% up to $125,000 equity if Bankruptcy is filed. More if owned more than 40 months with new BR law.
